Thoughts are coagulating specters of past information centralized in neuron activity which is stimulated by the alchemy of matter. By consuming high amounts of mercury, the body and mind could be converted (if the right stimulation is applied) into Au, the purest of metals. Since mercury has been outlawed by the conversations of new science, it is difficult to convince the mind into a pure state of ‘applied reasoning’ or ‘transforming reasoning.’ The last of the alchemists, Joseph Hardaway, left us with some insight on ‘transforming reasoning,’ but all of his research was rejected by his company. We can only attempt to analyze his findings through the symbols in his work. Nonetheless, this study has been spurned by major intellectual circles and little is known of Hardaway’s true intentions. Some anonymous scholars have created a list of repeated combinations which seem to hold some of Hardaway’s secrets: the impossible chase for power in the form of dust, the creation of impossible devices using morphing metals, the repetition of mantras as a means of ceasing thought, etc. Nonetheless, the secrets have been lost and any variants of these whispers have been quieted by enemies of alchemy, such as the prominent Roland Kuhn, who, in his attempt to find the Elixir for vainglorious reasons, found only a way to destroy transforming reasoning in many sensitive individuals.

The Ministry of Obscure Knowledge has set out to collect and publish the scraps of this information, preserving the collection of reasoning which is believed to have transforming powers over the psyche of opened or enlightenment-prone individuals.
